Fly on scripture

This morning as we were reading our scriptures, a fly landed on my page to the left. I was quite intrigue with him. He first washed his back legs and feet. Then he washed the front. He swept the underneath side of his wings rotating from one to the other. He was taking his sweet time, unaware that I was watching as the scriptures were being read out loud by others. He then put his front legs underneath the front of his rounded head as though he was getting them moist, then he brought them up and to the back of his head he brought them around to the front, as though he was washing his head. He did that three or four times, then he took his hind legs again and washed the top of his right wing then the left. He then went over the process again, so carefully and with great care. When he was finished, he dropped his head a little, then it appeared as though he went to sleep. He never moved. It was amazing! I never saw a fly set still for so long. This took about a process of 15 minutes total. He was dead still. Not one thing on his body moved. It was time for me to turn the page, so carefully I took my right hand to turn the page, and just about had it half way, then he flew away. I don't know how long he would have stayed there. I must say, he was touched by the scriptures. He was very reverent. I was at awe with him. How could a creature that is so annoying, keep me so appreciative of his cleanliness and respect for the scriptures as he did. An experience I will never have again, nor the fly. Amazing, something so small at that time gained my respect. I only realized that God loves us all, small or big. I gained a different outlook on being a fly after that experience that I can't explained.

Life is good here in the mission field. We are so blessed and grateful to be able to help the guests here on the ranch. We get many thanks from the youth and the adults for volunteering our time. This is such a great place, a little bit of heaven on earth and we are needed here.

  2. That was a fun story. I was wondering how it would end up. I was waiting for the "book slamed shut making a sound like thunder causing everyone to jump" and then a question of "does anyone know a good way to clean the pages". JL
